furring strips
Cedar furring strips were attached inside the steel hull but welded on stainless steel studs. Insulation was installed beside and over the furring strips and the exterior ceder planking is then fastened to the furring strips with stainless steel screws. They create a workable surface without requiring every finish piece to be fastened directly to steel.
